Exploring!
I have spent the majority of this week traveling and exploring! My best friend from back home came to visit and we have not only explored Florence further, but visited Naples and Cinque Terre as well. In Florence, I was able to visit the Boboli Gardens and Pitti Palace, which were just stunning. I have also enjoyed some of the best food this week! Pizza from Naples, swordfish from Cinque Terre, and cappuccino from almost everywhere! Food culture is different here than from back home. I have also noticed that food in general seems to be cheaper than in America. Not only that, but it is fresher, tastier, and better portioned. I will miss the food from Italy the most! Working at Eataly has been good this past week. We are doing a lot of translating lately in preparation for the large amounts of students and tourists coming to Europe for the summer. However, there are still a lot of times in which I feel completely useless due to the language barrier. One event that we were a part of this week was a marketing promotion at a hotel outside of the city of Florence. This weekend, youth teams of nationally known clubs such as Chelsea FC and Inter Milan, had a tournament. Eataly sponsored this tournament and we reached out and promoted Eataly to the traveling teams at the hotel that they stayed at by giving them samples of a new product we have, tomato seeds, and information about Eataly. A really cool thing I noticed was how close these teams were to each other. They treated each other like family and were so close nit. It was a different bond then what I see in America and it was very eye opening.
