"Nothing to Hide"

This week I worked little but explored a lot! On Sunday I went back to Cinque Terre again, yes again, with some friends from Kent State. Nothing new to report there but we did rent a pedal boat with a water slide on it so that was fun. On Monday I helped run another Kent State tasting for Eataly. It was the same as the others I have assisted with and it went well. Tuesday through Friday however, I was fortunate enough to travel to Amsterdam! It was absolutely incredible and unlike any place I have ever been. For example, the sun does not set there until around 10:30 pm, which really threw me off. The stairs are almost at a vertical angle; some so steep you almost have to walk up them sideways. They have roads and parking garages for bicycles! There are bikes everywhere, equivalent to cars in a busy city. Of course there were “coffee” and “truffle” shops as well. Though I was expecting that, it still caught me off guard. They are much more liberal on drugs than I ever imagined. That being said, I saw no homeless people or beggars while there, which is weird for a city in general. Of course the Red Light District was something completely new. It was actually really interesting to see since we do not have anything like that in America. They are very liberal and open about sex in Amsterdam and do not seem to shelter or

avoid that topic at all. An interesting fact that I learned from the canal cruise I took was that people in Amsterdam do not close their blinds. They leave their curtains open to “prove they have nothing to hide.” Besides the canal cruise and Red Light District, I was also fortunate enough to experience the Van Gogh Museum, the I amsterdam sign, Anne Franks House, the Heineken Brewery, the Library, the Sex Museum, and the Science Museum. Amsterdam was beautiful and I would really love to go back.
