Gelato and Wine

On monday, we went to the gelateria where I have been interning all summer and we had a class on how to make gelato. It was very interesting to see how the gelato I spent scooping all summer was made. The gelateria uses only the freshest and organic ingredients to make their gelato and prides themselves because of this. They explained the difference of homemade authentic gelato and the gelato that is seen in the city centers that is very fake and artificial.

After the gelato making class, some of us ventured to Pisa to go to the beach. It is a little ironic that we went to Pisa without seeing the tower, but we were so set on going

g to the beach and it was way to hot to try and figure out our way to it.

On tuesday, our class got to experience how Italian wine is made. We toured Principe Corsini, a Chianti winery a little south of Florence. Since we were on a school trip, we were not allowed to do a wine tasting(lame I know), but we had a fantastic lunch featuring melon and proscuitto, bolognese pasta, and a porktenderloin with pistachio sauce. Because we are all hospitality students, we are always very critical of food but there was very little to complain about with this meal.

Over all, this was was just me trying to mentally prepare myself for the fact that I have to leave in a week on the 12th. The experience of living and working in italy is one I'll never forget. A lot of people get to study aboard, but not a lot get to really be immersed into the culture like the 8 of us were. We ate gelato, we drank a decent amount of wine, and we got to say we lived in Florence, Italy.
