Good Vibes
This week has been one of my best; I am starting to feel more and more comfortable here. I started my week off by visiting Cinque Terre on Sunday (which I discussed briefly in my last post). It was my second time going and I truly love it there. It is stunning, there is so much to do, and I have had some of my best meals there. I have met so many people lately, both Italian and American, which has been really nice and very fun! Work also has been good this week. Brian and I assisted with a tasting at Eataly for Kent State students on Tuesday. They tasted a variety of jams, compotes, honeys, cheeses, olive oils, and vinegars. We were able to help teach the Kent students about the different foods, which made us feel very useful. It was interesting to see the difference between hospitality majors and non-hospitality majors in a setting such as a tasting. As hospitality students, so much of our major revolves around food and taste, and many are open to trying new things. However, the students that came in reacted very differently than how I, as well as other hospitality majors, would react. In other news, we have been doing a lot of interesting things in Florence this week. We learned how to make pizza at Eataly, which was
delicious. It was fun going to Eataly as a student rather than as a worker. We also go pedicures by fish this week! Very cool!
