Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool and all.
This week has been a pretty laid back and relaxed week for me. Mainly because the majority of my money has been spent on transportation for our last few visits in Europe and I've been a bit frugal. Still, Florence is an amazing city and even without money I am having a blast. Notable events this week have included watching Italy play Belgium in the EuroCup, our pizza making class, visiting the top of the Michelangelo and the Bobili Gardens, and meeting many new friends along the way. Watching Italy play Belgium was definitely a cool experience since the Italian natives are super die hard fans of the team. It is awesome seeing a whole town so alive cheering for a sport so popular. At the same time it is weird because nobody in America would seem to care. In comparison to Ohio sports, the crowd we watched with was like if the Browns went to the Super Bowl or if the Cavs won Game 7 of the finals (which should happen). To my surprise as well, the best pizza I've had in Italy hands down was the pizza I made during our class at Eataly. I really was not expecting this too, since I've had pizza from Eataly before. Maybe the pizza just needed my magic touch to taste incredible. Speaking of surprises, I am also surprised that it took me so long to hike to the top of the Michelangelo to see the beautiful view of Florence. Having just that great view alone made it a great place to relax and take in everything that I've experienced up to that point. As for work, it was not a very eventful week. Most of the time we were very busy translating a very lengthy brochure about Eataly's bakery and assisting during our pizza and sparkling wine event. I also did another guided tasting event with the Kent study abroad students. This time around it went much better since we had a grasp of what we were doing and the students seemed to be more interested and engaged. Rest is going to be my best friend the next couple of days as I prepare for my next voyages. Next week we will either be headed to Venice or the Almafi Coast, so stay tuned!
