Fashion
Fashion is such an important asset to the Italian Culture. With so many great designers born in the country, along with cities being known for leather, shoes, and so much more, fashion is appreciated at a much higher level than in the States. Being here this past month, I have tried to adapt to the Italian style with solid colors and a lot of leather. Leather is a huge business in Florence and you see leather markets everywhere you go. The people working at the markets and shops take pride in their product and truly want to show the uniqueness in design and quality. The workers also appreciate their customers to an extreme amount, which with the amount of people who come in and out of the stores, I am shocked at the amount they remember about transactions. For example, two years ago I bought a jacket at a shop and after walking in recently, they remembered everything about me, my name, why I was in Florence the first time, when I bought the jacket, and the jacket type and color. This characteristic only adds even more respect to the hospitality in this beautiful country.
This past week has been the Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy. With this going on, there has been beautiful models, designers, and buyers wondering throughout the city. Working at Reale, I was given the opportunity to work an event for a designer. The event was invitation only and involved a red carpet, DJs, tapas, desserts, and wine. It was interesting working the event and being able to see the distinct fashion choices the attendees made. The designer who was hosting the event actually designed the polos that the workers at Reale wear. The atmosphere of the event fit the look of Reale and I enjoyed every minute of the experience.
